Intuition or Instinct?

I’m someone who has always listened to their intuition when assessing situations and making decisions. But often when I mention intuition, the first thing people say is “It’s always good to listen to your gut.”
I do agree it’s important to listen to your instincts (gut), but there’s a big difference between intuition and instinct.
Instinct is our body’s physical reaction to the environment. It’s the subtle observations our eyes make, what we sense through the hair on our arms and neck (yes, we can sense vibrational energy through hair), it may be what we hear (sounds of distress, heavy breathing, etc), and is associated with our subconscious. It’s perfectly valid and can be very helpful in forewarning of potential danger, however it is not intuition.
Intuition comes from our higher mind, our higher intelligence, our higher conscience, our connection to Soul.
It is our connection to Source.
It is when we just KNOW, with no physical, emotional or mental attachments.
Tapping into our own higher intelligence can provide answers to all of our problems and dilemmas. It can help us clearly know the right path to take or see a way forwards. It can assist us to overcome fear.
However to access our intuition, we must allow our bodies, emotions and minds the opportunity to be still and quiet, and intentionally develop the connection from our heart, third eye (ajna centre) and crown chakras, to connect with something higher.
Some people naturally connect with a higher consciousness quite naturally, some do it during sleep. How often has the solution to a problem come to you in your dream?
Meditation and yoga are obviously excellent practices for quietening the body, emotions and mind but even just sitting in the outdoors in nature can help. And of course, turning off our phones and unplugging from technology, looking up at the night sky, or laying in the grass and looking up at the day sky.
In my sessions with clients, I always commence with a five minute alignment and visualisation, connecting to the higher self, so that any messages which are received are from the higher self, for the greater good.
After a session, often my clients say “It was validating. The session helped me to clarify things I knew deep down but wasn’t sure.” When you “know” something, it is coming from your higher mind. When you start to doubt your own heart’s wisdom, it is connected to the subconscious, and hidden fears.
We can all tap into our intuition, and when we KNOW, we should trust that and act on that knowing. Our intuition - our higher mind - always guides us on the right path if we quieten ourselves long enough to listen and hear.
Love and Light,
Cosmic Carol
