Growing towards greater self-reliance
The New Moon in Taurus follows a period of upheaval during the recent eclipse cycle on the Taurus-Scorpio axis, revealing aspects of our lives where we have relied too heavily on the financial and emotional support of others - be they our partners, employers or family members - and where that reliance prevented us from further growth and self-sustainability.
These revelations allow us to now more clearly initiate and manifest our next phase of growth and creativity.
With the New Moon in the fertile sign of Taurus, we are able to sow seeds towards our next phase of growth and creativity, which if tended properly will flourish and grow in the coming months and years.
Our desire to build will be assisted by a helpful aspect from the New Moon to Mars — who impels us to take assertive action on our desires — and to Pluto — whose impetus is towards permanent change, regeneration, redemption and self-empowerment. This powerfully assertive energy instills us with the passion and zeal to remove blocks which have been holding us back, or push through barriers which have become fractured and stressed in the past months.
Inspiring our idealism, compassion and intuition
The Sun and Moon are also engaging nicely with idealistic Neptune, inspiring us to visualise a new way forward which is more aligned with an open heart, soul purpose, compassion, the arts, music, rhythm, the ocean, our imaginations, and our psychic or intuitive faculties.
This should be an overall positive and powerful New Moon, however there are a few cautions which should be considered.
Guard against egocentricity and arrogance
Jupiter, Pluto and Mars are forming a tight t-square at 0 degrees of the fixed signs of Aquarius, Taurus and Leo, with Pluto and Mars in opposition, and Jupiter squaring both.
While this can give us the ability to demonstrate extraordinary force and ambition, it can also create over-confidence, arrogance and doggedly holding onto beliefs that you are in some ways superior to others. With Pluto opposite Mars, there is a need for caution in not allowing wounds to our ego to unleash darkness onto others. Jupiter expands, and so his involvement can blow things out of all proportion.
Beneath the shadows
Also, somewhere currently under the shadows of darkness there are plans being formed relating to atomic research, nuclear power and force, and the launching of satellites or rockets. The worst manifestation of the tense aspect between Mars, Pluto and Jupiter is a ruthless use of force and fanatical zeal. Over the coming week we are likely to see this bring to the surface hostile tensions on a global scale.
On a global level we should also hear more about using new technologies for powering and feeding the planet.
Let us all endeavour to master the qualities of steadfastness, patience, humility and equanimity, and work to transform the issues in our lives which keep us stuck in patterns of anger, fear, apathy and oppression.
Back on track!
On a positive note, with Mercury having recently turned direct after back-tracking through Taurus, the plans we laid in April (before we suddenly got cold feet and changed our minds in May) can again be considered, perhaps this time with a better sense of what is right for our inner security, as opposed to simply fulfilling others’ expectations of what security should look like.
A few days before the New Moon, Jupiter moved into Taurus and here helps build and create something nourishing and expansive, but also lasting. You may find yourself wanting to build and create within your home environment, such as adding or increasing the size of rooms, or you may just want to plant seeds which nourish you. With Taurus ruling the physical body and Jupiter ruling expansiveness, be careful with food portion sizes, as your physical body can grow in size under this transit too!
Positive new relationships
Jupiter in Taurus is applying to a conjunction with the Moon’s north node at the end of May, enhancing relationships in an agreeable and helpful way. There are opportunities to meet with those with whom you feel a soul connection, and who encourage you to expand your horizons (both physically and metaphorically).
Saturn in Pisces and Mercury in Taurus helps us to remain focussed on what is important for our inner security, and to articulate or understand the boundaries which are required for our mental and spiritual wellbeing. We can also use this helpful combination to focus upon, and solve, our existential quandaries about earning an income to do spiritual or artistic work.
Be sure to spend some time in nature during the dark moon in Taurus, encouraging serenity, calm, simplicity, practicality, loyalty and appreciation of beauty.
Love and Light, Cosmic Carol
